I beg the favour of your, kindly permitting me to make use of your columns to draw the attentions of the concerneed authorities against converting the only green area near our colony into a housing complex.

Everyone of us know that nature is a most important part of our life. Still , we are always in favour of material development. I live in Shivaji colony, comprised of highrises buildings. There is an important green area in our colony. One construction authority wants to convert the only left over green meadows into a housing complex. But I think destroying the only left over green beauty of our locality for another housing complex is a complete foolishness and useless for our society. It will eradicate all the greenary of our locality. Only buildings and housing complex can not solve our need. Nobody is bothered about nature and environment.

This green area is a point of public importance. Children use it as their playground after school hours. In vacation time it becomes their second home as they remain on the ground for whole day. Old aged people and other people of our locality use it for their morning walk. Sometimes this area becomes picnic spot specially in winters. Pandals are also constructed during festive times to utilise this greenary for decorations. It is also used for occassional purposes like marriages and ceremonial parties.

So, it can be conceptualised that this green area is a life of our society; which has a number of important uses. If another housing complex is constructed all these activities will suffer in future. Therefore I request your to highlight this problem of Shivaji colony in your column. So that it can be saved for the interest of the people of our society. I shall be highly obliged for this.
