Subject:
Application for removing the problem of congestion caused due to street vendors
and improving urban traffic management.
Dear Sir,
With due
respect, I beg to state that the problem of congestion caused due to street
vendors is becoming a serious civic issue and urban infrastructure
problem in Green Park locality. The vendors are either displaying their
goods or roaming on the road to earn. This is making the daily navigation on
the road difficult and affecting proper traffic management. Due to the
reckless clogging and roadside encroachment, severe disputes arise among
the people which sometimes turns violent.
Traffic
jams, accidents, navigation and hygiene issues are the major problems piling up
consistently and affecting public infrastructure. The vendors without
considering the issues of traffic display their goods or carry them wherever
they find the place, leading to poor city traffic control. In order to
earn an optimum amount daily, they are least bothered of the troubles brewing
on the road. They do not leave the place unless and until they are able to earn
the destined amount. During this time period, traffic issues surge which stays
for at least 3 to 4 hours daily, creating serious urban congestion. Many
school students, office workers and busy people are facing the problem of
maintaining the arrival time. I am myself a student and I need to clarify about
my whereabouts because of this overwhelming traffic jams and traffic
congestion problems.
Next, the
important issue that needs serious consideration and immediate action is the
rising numbers of accidents on the road, which reflects poor urban traffic
control measures. People are colliding with each other and vehicles are
bumping into one another. The space of moving is already consumed by the
vendors, thereby leaving very little space for the people to navigate safely.
Today, there happened two accidents which poured heavy tensions and fear in the
crowd. The victims of the accidents escaped luckily from the major injuries.
Accidents cannot be overlooked as life is precious and public safety is
a major concern.
The
important core of travelling on road is easy navigation. But it has become a
headache due to the road clogging and illegal encroachment by the people. There
are little children on cycles and old age people using the road too, raising
serious pedestrian safety issues. Due to this overcrowding, the people
on vehicles need to carefully trace their paths to navigate. Many of us are
using two wheelers and cars for reaching our destinations. However, the use of
these vehicles has become difficult due to increasing urban congestion
and poor traffic management system.
Last but
not the least, the issue of pollution and litter are accentuating due to the
hawkers’ problems, adding to overall civic infrastructure issues.
But these
issues can be tackled if proper urban congestion solutions and traffic
management solutions are implemented. I suggest that these vendors be
provided with proper place so that they can sell their goods hassle free
without bothering the people, as part of planned urban development solutions.
These places must be fixed for their use only and regularly monitored by
municipal corporation under an effective municipal complaint system to
prevent disturbances and disputes. Last but not the least, particular time
should be allotted to these vendors so that the discipline of selling products
is maintained properly and city traffic control is improved.
Thanking
You,
Yours
